Objective: The purpose of this study is to suggest the usefulness of accelerometer on postural sway in stroke patients.
Method: We conducted experiments in which 27 stroke patients stand on on firm surface with opening eyes, and on balance pad with closing eyes by tri-axial accelerometers. We used t-test to compare the differences of two posture during static standing and also the differences between falling and non-falling.
Results: There were significant differences according to static standing on firm surface with opening eyes, and on balance pad with closing eyes(p<.05). Also, there were significant differences in static standing on balance pad with closing eyes between falling and nonfalling (p<.05).
Conclusion: The results of this study showed Accelerometers have been proposed as a quantitative measure of balance during static standing.
